How do you solve equations that involve division?

Another technique that is very useful for some equations is the multiplication rule. The multiplication rule states:

Multiplication Rule for Equations

If both sides of an equation are multiplied by the same number (except zero), the value of the equation remains the same.


This rule is helpful for solving problems like this: \(\mathsf{\frac{x}{4}}\) = \(\mathsf{ 9 }\).
