How does the space between lines of text affect your design?

Leading refers to the amount of distance between two lines of text. The term comes from the use of actual lead strips to separate lines of letters for metal typesetting in printing presses.

Proper leading can help create a legible block of text that requires little effort to read. The general rule of thumb is that the leading between two lines of type should be around or slightly above the same height as your type. The width of your text will also affect your choices in leading. Narrow text can have less leading wider longer blocks of text should use more leading.
