The FAFSA is not really designed to allow for practice attempts. You cannot create a mock FAFSA. Fortunately, the FAFSA4caster gives you that chance. The FAFSA4caster is less complex than the FAFSA, but allows you to accomplish two important tasks:
- It gives you an early look at what your federal financial aid is likely to be.
- It allows you to practice completion of the FAFSA by requiring that you enter much, but not all, of the information that is required by the FAFSA.
The FAFSA4caster is not an official statement of eligibility. It is simply a predictive tool that will help you forecast your federal financial aid eligibility. If you are in your last year of high school, the FAFSA4caster will be a warm-up exercise for the FAFSA. If you have a year or more left in high school, it will give you a chance to become aware of some of the opportunities and expectations that lie ahead in your college funding process.
The FAFSA4caster will explain each step in the process. Look for the balloons on the right side of the page to explain every question on the form. Every question on the FAFSA4caster will also be asked on the FAFSA, so this is a great jumpstart!
