What are games and how can I use them?

Introduction

Games are similar to some of our interactive review activities in their function but are themed to present the content being reviewed in a more gamified format. Incorporating review games into course content helps to enhance student learning by fostering active participation and encouraging problem-solving. Game-based learning helps students build critical thinking skills while reinforcing subject matter.

Requesting a Game

The following pages show the games that are currently avalible for secondary (grades 6-12) course development. Each page contains:

  • A brief description of the game and it’s use(s)
  • A sample of a functioning game – examples of subject matter will vary
    • Formatting example for the sample
  • Customizable Content & Constraints – lists specific instructions of what we can and can not do with the game
  • A Blank formatting template – used when requesting the game in a lesson

Please note: Game themes and styling are not customizable. If you have questions regarding the use of a game or a feature, please reach out to the Multimedia manager.
