Raquel is worried. Last week, she had sex for the first time with her boyfriend, Theo. Now, Raquel’s genital area is burning and itching, and she has some discharge from her vagina. Could Theo have given her a sexually transmitted infection, an STI?

Theo says he isn’t sick. But Raquel now wonders how much she can trust him. What if he gave her an STI? What should she do? Raquel’s not only worried; she’s embarrassed and scared and a little angry, too. If Theo really loved her, she thinks, he wouldn’t have made her sick!

In this week’s lesson, you will learn about the signs, symptoms, and treatment for some of the most common bacterial and viral STIs.
