Safety

How do you keep it safe?

safety firstSafety is the first and foremost thing to consider when participating in any form of exercise. Resistance machines can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. They can allow someone to perform an exercise with more weight than they're able to handle, which creates the potential for injury.

If you have never used resistance machines before, it's best to have a gym employee or someone who is experienced in lifting show you the proper way to use each of the machines. It's important to know what to do and what not to do.

Let's review some general safety guidelines.

Always wear clothing that will allow for ample movement and will not create any interference with the machines.
Always wipe down the machines with spray and a towel after each use. This will help to minimize the spread of germs and illnesses.
Start off each exercise with a small amount of weight and increase as needed. It's always better to be too light than too heavy and hurt yourself.
If you're unsure how to use a machine, ask!
All exercises should be performed with slow controlled movements. Faster does not mean better, and it is actually less effective for muscle gain.

Can you think of any additional safety guidelines that would be good to follow?
