Is this the best equipment for you?

If you have access and a membership to a gym or fitness center, you've probably noticed that resistance machines are commonly used by many people of all ages, shapes, and genders. 

Let's take a look at some of the pros and some of the cons.

Pros Cons
They're safe since no weights can be dropped onto your body unlike free weights. One usually needs to have access to a gym or club to use.
No spotters are required. The machine determines options.
It's easy and quick to change weights. Movements are predetermined by the machine.
If your goal is strengthen a specific muscle for a specified reason, resistance machines are the most effective. They isolate the muscle being worked, which could create uneven muscular strength, which increases the risk of injury.
They are easier to use for beginners than free weights since it is less likely people will use the machines with improper technique.
