Fourteen-year-old Angie is interested in science and medicine, and she plans to become a doctor when she grows up. She even reads her mother’s professional nursing journals for fun! One day, Angie’s pesky little brother asks her an odd question: What is health? That should be an easy question, right?
Much to Angie’s surprise, she has a hard time answering her brother’s question. What IS health? Is health simply being free of disease? Is health doing the best you can in spite of disease? Are there different ways to be healthy? If so, what are they?
This one, simple question from her little brother has started Angie on a quest. She now reads all she can and talks to experts to find out what being healthy really means.
In this lesson, you will learn the definitions of health and wellness and some of the habits and skills that help to maintain both of them.
