For this project you will complete a pen and ink drawing of a room interior. You can choose the room from the previous project or pick a completely new room.
On 9" by 12" drawing paper, make a border around your paper so that you have a drawing space of 8" by 11". The extra space on the edges of your drawing space will give you a buffer to smoothly draw in pen without worrying about going off the paper.
In pencil, lightly sketch the room and the objects in it. When you are satified with the drawing, go over your sketch in pen and ink. Keep it simple by outlining your sketch without textures or shading.
Try to be sensitive to the kind of lines your pen is making. Enjoy the quality of every line you draw. Make each line “tell” something about the form of the objects you are drawing. Be aware of the contrasts between angular shapes and rounded shapes. Try to feel the differences when you are drawing soft folds or hard supports.
Try to see the whole drawing as one design. See each object “related to” what is around it.
Once you have completed your project, scan or photograph it and submit it to your teacher.
