What were the elements of Chicano art?

Rodolfo Gonzales wasn't the only artist known for publishing Chicano works of art. In fact, he inspired a wave of new artists who wanted to creatively explore their identity and their relationship with the United States.

To accomplish those goals, artists took some elements of Mexican art (like mural painting, bright and patriotic colors, and revolutionary messages) and applied them to modern Mexican-American problems. Poetry and mural paintings were two extremely popular forms of expression, and they were used to make statements about racial discrimination, low wages for Latino farm workers, race-based immigration laws, and other issues important to the community.
