Create several simple design ideas to brainstorm a direction for your logo.

A series of logo sketches for organic food
This designer is experimenting with several different quick logos for an organic food company.
Often when designing logos, it helps to just get started drawing or sketching lots of ideas without thinking too critically about any one approach. Just like when you brainstorm concepts when writing an English paper, sometimes turning off your internal editor can lead to some surprisingly good results.

There are lots of advantages to creating thumbnail sketches for a logo design. You can try out lots of different ideas without worrying too much about quality. You can quickly move on to a new design if one direction isn't really working. You can compare lots of different treatments at once, and mix and match successful elements as you go.

For the next step of your logo design project, you'll be creating a page of thumbnail sketches for a new EuWare logo. While these sketches can be created digitally (especially if you have a digital drawing tablet), it's much better if you use good, old-fashioned pencil and paper for this part of the project. Don't worry about color at this point, just try to knock out some basic shapes and compositions that meet the design specifications from the client. As you sketch, refer back to the design brief and project overview often to keep the requirements fresh in your mind.

You will create at least nine different thumbnail sketches for this assignment. While each sketch doesn't have to be a finished masterpiece, it does have to be a complete idea that's original and different from the other eight sketches. Also, each logo sketch should follow the guidelines laid out by the client in their project overview and in the design brief.

When you've finished your sketches, scan or take a picture of them and send your work to your teacher. You will be graded using the following rubric.
