Some specific mathematical properties--such as associative, commutative, and distributive--can be used in solving perimeter and area problems. This is useful when we are designing and building two or three dimensional objects such as a dog run, as shown in this video.
Dogs need a safe space to play where they can run around without the owners fearing that they will break something or hurt themselves.
Some people build this kind of space in their backyard. It is usually a fenced in rectangular space called a dog run.
If you were going to build one of these for your dog, there are few mathematical properties you would need to know in order to design it.
These properties are called the associative property, the commutative property, and the distributive property.
You can use these mathematical properties to help you evaluate expressions by combining like terms, and therefore solve design problems, such as building a dog run.
