One of the things you'll learn about in Earth Science is the history of living things on Earth. You'll learn about how the Earth has changed through time and how those changes have allowed different organisms to live at different times. Scientists have long been fascinated and curious about Earth's past. We've wondered what it might have looked like millions of years ago and what types of events have taken place over all that time.
To help us gain knowledge about Earth's past we carry out investigations and look for clues and evidence in rocks and fossils. And while the investigations are different depending on what their goals are, all scientific investigations begin with a question. A question such as "What's out there?" "How does it work?" or "What kinds of relationships are there between different parts of the Earth?" Getting good answers depends on asking good questions, and that's what this lesson is all about.
