Drafting:

Key Elements of a Persuasive Speech
Your speech includes a clear main idea, rhetorical strategies, and supporting details. Your speech also includes an introduction and conclusion, and it persuades others. Your speech includes some rhetoric and the basic features of persuasion; however, these features could be better developed. Your speech lacks one or more of the key elements, or portions of your speech are presented in very confusing ways.
Revising:

Descriptive Details, Rhetorical Strategies, Precise and Concise Statements
Your revised speech includes descriptive details, rhetorical strategies, and precise and concise statements that improve the reader’s experience. Your revised speech includes a few examples of effective rhetoric as well as some logical points; however, the revisions do not improve the reader’s experience as much as they should. Your revised speech does not include more effective rhetorical strategies or improved logic to make it effective or persuasive.
Level of Formality:

Language usage is consistent and deliberate
Your revised speech consistently uses clear and appropriate language that matches the chosen level of formality or deliberately and strategically shifts the level of formality. Your revised speech includes some consistency in the level of formality, but too many shifts and inconsistencies in language usage create confusion. Your revised speech lacks consistency and does not create a specific level of formality.
