The Written Word

Which format for delivering information is still most plentiful?

The advantage of including text-based sources in your research is that written products generally delve more deeply into the issues. There are also many more text-based sources available, and they represent a wider range of types, authors, and perspectives. Read at least three text-based sources from the list below. As you read, notice how each source adds to (or changes) your understanding of the beginning of environmentalism as a political movement.

When you have read three sources from the list above, complete Part Three of the Evaluating Multiple Sources worksheet that you downloaded earlier in this lesson. Then check to make sure you have completed all of the worksheet's sections, and submit your work using the Evaluating Multiple Sources assignment link.

When you have answered all the questions, submit your work by saving the file, creating a digital photo, or scanning the document, and then uploading it for your teacher to grade. The assignment is worth 30 points and will be graded based on the following rubric.

  Points Criteria
Part One 12 Your answers to this section's questions are correct and complete; they indicate that you watched the video carefully and took the time to analyze the video and evaluate its overall credibility as a source.
Part Two 6 Your answers to this section's questions are correct and complete; they indicate that you studied the timeline carefully and took the time to answer each question thoughtfully.
Part Three 12 You provide three concise and accurate summaries of written sources; your reflection on these sources indicates that you considered the impact of each on your own thinking about the topic.
