Once you have submitted your FAFSA, the waiting game begins. Within five days, but usually sooner, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). That report will summarize all of the information you provided on the FAFSA and notify you of any missing information. If your FAFSA is complete, your SAR will also list your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). This will appear in the upper right-hand portion of your SAR and is the amount that the financial aid system anticipates that your family can and will contribute to your education. It is also an indication of your qualification for need-based aid.

If you applied for a PIN at the time you started your FAFSA, your PIN status will also be listed on your SAR.  Remember that your PIN will be necessary for the retrieval of your FAFSA records.
