Let's take a look at the graphs of the function f(x) = 2x + 1 and its inverse function f\(\small\mathsf{ ^{-1} }\)(x) = \(\small\mathsf{ \frac{(x - 1)}{2} }\).

f(x) = \(\small\mathsf{ \frac{(x - 1)}{2} }\)
f(x) = 2x + 1
Note that the equation of the dashed line is f(x) = x.
The two graphs are reflections of each other with the line f(x) = x as the mirror!
