| Intensity | The relative purity or saturation of a hue on a scale from bright to dull. For example, a very bright blue has a high intensity; a very dull blue has a low intensity. |
| Complementary colors | Two hues directly opposite one another on the color circle. When mixed together the hues form neutral grays and browns; but when placed side by side they contrast strongly and intensify each other. |
