- Lay down newspaper to protect the surface on which you are working.

Keys to Success
- Concentrate on mixing a balanced scale and range of color from a pure color to a dull neutral--and back to a pure, opposite color again.
- Think of your scale as taking even color steps. Your colors should not change too quickly or slowly, but step evenly along.
