For this lesson, you will create a thematic map that shows some of history's most important turning points--historical events that have affected the entire human race. You can use the map provided on this page as a start. Just click the Print button below to access a blank thematic map. Print that map out, and then gather some colored pencils or markers so that you're ready to add details to your map.

Throughout the rest of this lesson, you will witness some of the most important turning points in human history. For each turning point, find the location where the event happened, and mark it on your thematic map. Also color a section on your map that represents the parts of the world that were affected by the event. (Try to use a new color for each turning point.)

Once you're done marking and labeling all the turning points, you will need to scan or take a picture of your map, save it as an image file, and submit it to your teacher for a grade. Make sure your name is on your work!
