What does a friendly letter look like?

This week, we will be taking a look at friendly letters and writing one of our own. Friendly letters are a great way to share something that happened in your life with someone who lives in another town.
Today, we will take a look at an example of a friendly letter to see what they look like.

Dear Luke,
My family visited the orchard last weekend to pick apples and pumpkins. We had a blast! Have you been to an orchard yet this fall?
First, we picked apples. We filled an entire basket. It was way too heavy for me to carry. Mom said we were going to make apple pie, apple muffins, and even applesauce with them. I can't wait!
Then, we got to pick pumpkins. We took a hayride out to a large field filled with pumpkins of all sizes. My mom told us that we could pick any pumpkin we wanted, but we had to be able to carry it. I went right for the biggest one I could see, but I couldn't even lift it off the ground. I settled for a nice round one instead. I can't wait to carve it later!
I hope you are enjoying fall, too! The leaves are starting to change color here, and it looks beautiful. Hopefully, you can visit soon and enjoy it with us!
Your friend,
Matt
We start a friendly letter with the date and a greeting. Then, we introduce the topic of our letter. The body of the letter explains the topic, and the end wraps everything up. We always finish a friendly letter with a closing.
Think about who you might want to write a friendly letter to. We will start planning our letters tomorrow.
