Today, we will take a look at how commas are used when writing addresses.
When we write the name of a city or town and the name of a state, district, or country, we need to separate them with commas.
We put the comma between Chicago and Illinois to separate the city and state.
Where would we put the comma here?
We put the comma between San Francisco and California to separate the city from the state.
Where would we put the comma here?
We put the comma between London and England to separate the city from the country.
We also use a comma after each part of the address when it is used in a sentence. We need a comma after the street address and one after the city. We don’t need one between the state and the zip code.

We need a comma separating the street address from the city, and one separating the city from the state.
