Optional: The Celts used to make dolls depicting Bridget and place them on their hearths. They did this to bring health to the home, particularly when a baby was coming! Make your own Bridget doll.
Materials:
- Old sheet or towel
- Scissors
- 12-16 long strands of raffia (you can get these at your local crafts store)
- Ruler or measuring tape
- Craft glue, or hot glue gun with glue sticks (be careful with these!)
- Small bundle of dried flowers
Steps:
- Cover your work area with a sheet or towel. Cut six to eight strands of raffia 10-12 inches long. Gather the strands and make sure they are neat and not tangled. Cut a smaller piece of raffia and use it to tie the strands together in the center.
- Fold over the raffia bundle in the center (where it is tied) and use another short piece of raffia to tie the bundle about 1 inch from the top. This forms the body and head.
- Cut six to eight pieces of raffia about 8 inches long. Tie them together at the center to form arms and again about ½ inch from each end to form hands. Glue the center of the arms to the back of the body, beneath the round head.
- Glue hands together and place a small bundle of dried flowers in her arms.
