Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna (1794-1876)

This is a lithograph of Mexican President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna.

Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna was the Mexican president and general of the Mexican army during the Texas Revolution. He fought to keep Texas a territory of Mexico. Santa Anna won the Battle of the Alamo and the Battle of Goliad, but he lost against the Texian soldiers at the Battle of San Jacinto. He was imprisoned until he signed treaties giving Texas its independence from Mexico.

Vicente Filisola (1789-1850)

This is from a lithograph of Vicente Filisola, a Mexican General.

Vicente Filisola was a Spanish military figure who fought for Mexico during the Texas Revolution. After he heard about the defeat of Santa Anna in the Battle of San Jacinto, he retreated to Mexico with his troops.
