Y is for yarn
and yawn.
Y is for yogurt
and yolk.
Can you touch the “y” on the Yield sign?
Yes! Can you find the Y made out of yams? Trace it with your finger.
Y is for yell. Put your hands up and out like the top of an uppercase Y and stand up so your
body looks like a Y.
When you hear a word that starts with y “y” yo-yo, yell out the word- but not too loud, of
course.

Let’s trace the uppercase Y together. Ready? Start at the top- and slant down to the right and
stop on the dotted line . Lift your finger and start at the top line again and slant down to the left
and stop at the dotted line Now go straight down to the bottom.
Yes! Now for the lowercase y . Start at the middle dotted line . Slant down to the right and stop
at the bottom line . Lift your finger and go to the dotted line again . Slant left and go all the way
past the bottom line to make the y’s tail.
Yea for Y’s!
