The trick to writing a draft is to keep writing--no matter what!

The drafting stage of the writing process can be challenging, but remember that you have done a lot of work already to prepare for this stage. You should have lots of ideas from all the prewriting activities you did this semester. And your readers are waiting to see and hear the results!
Take out lots of paper and something to write with--or open a word processing file if you prefer to type. Make sure that you have at least 45 minutes of time when you won't be interrupted. Then write your short story. Don't continue with this lesson until you have a first draft finished.
