Practice Comparing
Let’s look at one more example before you practice on your own.

Example 5: Is 0.800 more or less than 0.8?
You can again compare places: both numbers have a 0 in the ones place and an 8 in the tenths place. One number has hundredths and thousandths places, but there are zeros in those places. Since zero is worth nothing, we don’t even have to write those places. So, 0.800 has the same value as 0.8.
Or, you can add zeros so that both numbers have the same number of digits. When you add 2 zeros to the end of 0.8, you get 0.800. You can see that the two decimals are equal.
0.8 = 0.800
Reminders before you begin to practice:
- Always start comparing with the place farthest to the left (so that means you are comparing the whole number parts first).
- Next, go place by place until you find the larger digit.
