Winfield Scott
Winfield Scott was a U.S. Army general who was recognized as the "Best American Commander" of his time. He was commander during the War of 1812, Black Hawk War, Mexican-American War, and Second Seminole War. He served as commanding general in the U.S. Army for 20 years, which was the longest term anyone has ever served in that position. In all, Scott had a 53-year career in the army. Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson was a U.S. Army general who was known for defeating the British in the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. Jackson was also a commander during the First Seminole War in which he invaded Pensacola, Florida, and defeated the Seminole and Spanish. That defeat led to Spain selling Florida to the U.S. in the Adams-Onís Treaty of 1819. Robert E. Lee
Robert E. Lee was chief aide to Winfield Scott during the Mexican-American War in 1846. He was also a general in the Army for the Confederate States during the Civil War. |
