Meet the History Kids! They love history and teaching history to other kids. Today they want to teach you about some of our nation’s famous military leaders.

The History Kids want to take you to the room of this museum that honors American military leaders.

Let’s start with the portrait of George Washington. He was our country’s first president, making him a political leader.

George Washington was also a famous military leader. He served as the general of the Continental Army during the American Revolution.

General George Washington led the troops to victory, and the United States of America won its independence from Great Britain.

This is a portrait of Captain Meriwether Lewis.

President Thomas Jefferson sent Captain Meriwether Lewis on an expedition to find new land after the Louisiana Purchase.

Lewis and Clark went on a famous two-year journey, traveling about 8,000 miles and learning about the unchartered lands of North America.

This portrait shows Winfield Scott, a U.S. Army General for 20 years.


General Winfield Scott led in the War of 1812, the Black Hawk War, the Mexican-American War, and the Second Seminole War.

Let’s look at one more portrait. This is Andrew Jackson, a famous U.S. general of the army.

General Andrew Jackson defeated the British in the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812.

Andrew Jackson is also famous for his role in the First Seminole War.
