Rivers and oceans are flowing-water systems. Lakes and ponds are standing-water systems. A lake is deeper than a pond and may be fed by an underground water source. Sunlight can touch every part of a pond.
Question
What does it mean to be a flowing-water system and a standing-water system?
A flowing-water system in a system that has water in it that is moving constantly, either in the form of the rushing water of a river or in the form of waves in an ocean. Standing water like that found in ponds and lakes does not move in a regular pattern like ocean waves or a river current.
