audio buttonLet’s practice our fluency today and focus on rate, expression, and intonation.

Our rate is the speed we read, expression is reading with feeling, and intonation is the raising and lowering of our voice as we read.

Let’s listen to the passage below being read aloud. Listen for the reader’s rate, expression, and intonation.

If you had a time machine, where and when would you choose to visit? No matter what you choose, chances are what you would find would look quite different from the world we live in today. In modern times we push a button and watch news from around the world. We click a mouse and send an email to someone on the other side of the world. We get in our cars and drive to visit a friend. Television, the Internet, and the car are inventions that changed the world forever. We rely on them in our everyday lives. Let’s hop in that imaginary time machine. Join me as we travel back in time to learn about some of the inventions that changed the world.
