Let's look at the past tense of irregular verbs.

Yesterday, we looked at making regular verbs in the past tense.
Add -ed to the ending of the root word.
If the base word ends in an -e, add just the -d.
If the vowel sound will change, double the ending consonant before adding -ed.
Today, we will look at irregular action verbs. These are words that do not follow the add -ed pattern. It is best to memorize these words. Look at the table below. Do you know the past tense form for each of these irregular verbs? Click on the base word in the chart to see if you are correct.
