Time lines are used to show when the events related to a specific topic occurred. They can be drawn vertically (up and down) or horizontally (across) and usually are just a single line marked with the dates of important events. The example below shows some of important events related to the launch and sinking of the Titanic. Notice how events that happened just a day apart are shown close together on the time line.
