writing walrusaudio buttonToday, we will build the rough draft of our expository paragraph. You should have all of your ideas written down already. Please find your graphic organizer that you completed yesterday. This will help you build your rough draft.

Go through the slideshow below to help you build your rough draft.

audio buttonTitle

Let's start with a title. We are writing an expository paragraph about our vacation, so the title should have something to do with that.

Go ahead and give your paragraph a title.

audio buttonTopic Sentence

We need to begin our paragraph with a topic sentence. This sentence states the topic, so you will introduce your vacation spot.

Introduce your topic by writing your topic sentence.

audio buttonBody Sentences

Now, it's time to add your information. Take a look at the graphic organizer you filled out yesterday. This will help you build the body of your paragraph.

You will begin with your first packed item, and then include your details or explanations that support your item. Do the same with your second item and your third. Remember to fully explain each item before moving on to the next one.

audio buttonClosing Sentence

Let's wrap up your paragraph by writing your closing sentence. You are reminding the reader what your paragraph was about. Your topic sentence can help you write your closing sentence.

Add your closing sentence.
