Using Tiles
Sometimes it's easier to use models to understand math concepts.
Goal:
Goal:

We already multiplied 25 x 13 using clustering, remember? We're now going to use math tiles to multiply 25 x 13. To do so, we'll break down our problem the same way we did above.
Step 1:
25 will be left alone because it will be easy to multiply by 25. 13 will be broken down into 10 + 3, just like the problem above. So we will multiply 25 by 10 and 25 by 3 and then add the two answers together.Step 2:
Multiply 25 x 10, which is 25 groups of 10:
Counting up the tiles, we have 250. So 25 x 10 = 250.
Step 3:
Multiply 25 x 3, which is 25 groups of 3:
Counting up the tiles, we have 75. So 25 x 3 = 75.
Step 4:
Add the results. 250 + 75 = 325.
