Create a sequential-order rough draft.
Goal:
Goal:
Today, you will write three paragraphs about a time you were afraid. Remember, your paragraphs must include events in sequential order. Think about what happened during the time that you were afraid. What events led up to you being afraid? Look at the slideshow below to view how to organize your rough draft.

First Paragraph
The first paragraph should include the setting and characters. You can state the problem or begin to introduce events that led to your problem.

Second Paragraph
This paragraph should have the events that lead to your problem. These are your rising actions. Remember, they must be in sequential order. That means they need to be in an order based on what happens first. In our story, "Scared in the Storm," Sam saw the sky become dark. Then, the wind began to blow, and dirt flew into his face. The author is slowly building events to show us how Sam is afraid of thunderstorms. We need to know the wind was blowing so that we understand why dirt was blowing in his face.

Organization
Remember to include a topic sentence, detail sentences, and a concluding sentence in each paragraph. This will help keep your ideas focused. It will also allow the story to flow for the reader. |
Use your graphic organizer from yesterday to create your rough draft. You can decide if you would like to hand-write or type your draft. Choose what works best for you. Save your draft in a safe place. We'll be working on it again tomorrow.
