Let's take a trip to the farmer's market!

Have you ever been to a farmer's market? What kind of things can you buy there? Farmer's markets often sell fresh, local products, such as fresh fruits and vegetables; milk, butter, and cheeses; fresh baked breads; homemade jams and jellies; and soaps and lotions made from fresh ingredients.

Consumers are the buyers, and that includes you! Producers are the people selling products at a farmer's market. This person might be the actual farmer, or it could be a person who works for the farmer or business. These people produce the goods that are being sold.

Earlier you learned about supply and demand. Buyers determine the demand for a product at various prices. Sellers determine the supply of a product at various prices. People selling goods at a farmer's market pay close attention to the price customers are willing to pay for their products.
