audio buttonLong i is for ice cream! Would you like to make some ice cream? Follow the steps below to make your very own ice cream.

ingredients

Supplies:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups crushed ice
  • 4 tablespoons salt
  • 2 quart-size sealable plastic bags
  • 1 gallon-size sealable plastic bag
  • a hand towel or gloves to keep your fingers from freezing!

1) Mix the milk, vanilla, and sugar together in one of the quart-size bags. Seal the bag tightly with as little air as possible still remaining in the bag.

2) Place this bag inside the other quart-size bag and seal this bag as well. (Double bagging like this helps prevent any leaks.)

3) Put both of these bags inside the gallon-size bag. Fill the gallon-size bag with ice, and then sprinkle the salt on top. Seal tightly, making sure there is as little air left in the bag as possible.

4) Wrap the bag in a towel, and put your gloves on.

5) Shake and squeeze the bag, making sure the ice is all around the ice cream mixture. Do this for about 5-8 minutes or until the mixture freezes into ice cream. While you are shaking the bag, yell out as many long i words like ice cream that you can think of!

eat ice cream

6) Spoon the ice cream into a bowl and eat up. Yum!

Tip: Freezer bags work best because they are thicker and prevent leaks from happening.
