The producers at RazzMaTazz will need to get a clear sense of what you have in mind, so be sure to include enough information to convey the full picture. Your pitch should include these parts:
a catchy title that suggests the content of the film
a log line--a one sentence description of the film's plot or theme, like the short sentences or phrases you see on movie posters
a synopsis, or brief summary, of the film, identifying the story's conflict and major characters and describing its themes
an image that will catch the eye of potential audience members and suggest something important about the film
You can create your pitch based on a completely original concept for a film, or you can pitch an adaptation of a book you have read. If you choose an adaptation rather than an original story, your log line and synopsis should be based on the contents of the book. In addition, your synopsis should include the words Adapted from [book’s title] by [author’s name] to ensure that the book’s author receives credit for contributing to the project.
Your pitch can take the form of a poster, a PowerPoint presentation or a movie trailer. Regardless of the format you choose, make sure the producers at RazzMaTazzz will see right away why your film idea would appeal to audiences.
The RazzMaTazz Movie Pitch worksheet on this page will help you get your project started and suggest some steps to use in crafting your pitch. Remember that your movie idea will have two different audiences—potential moviegoers and the producers at RazzMaTazz Studios. Your pitch should appeal to both.
