Signal words help us to compare and contrast within a story. Combine them with 5 W questions when reading.

One way to compare and contrast a story is to use a Venn Diagram.
The yellow and blue sections are for the differences. The green section is for the similarities.
Let's compare and contrast winter and summer.
Yellow Section-This is where you write everything that is about winter but different from summer. |

Blue Section-This is where you write everything that is about summer but different from winter. Notice that I try to write the opposites in the same order (cold/hot). |
