Module Overview:

In this module students will learn what a business is and the risk involved in running a business. Students will learn about supply and demand. They will learn the difference between a good and service. Students will learn about different types of jobs and industries. They will learn the difference between producers and consumers and what an entrepreneur is.

2 Supply and Demand In their Social Studies notebook have your student write about the following: explain what supply and demand is and describe how it works, give examples of how supply and demand effects the price of products, what makes a healthy economy, what is the growth national product, what is the growth domestic product, and explain competition and how it effects price.
3 Goods and Services In their Social Studies notebook have your student write about and define the following: goods, services, taxes, ways to use money wisely, describe an economic system and the 3 questions economic systems try to answer, and explain what free enterprise is.
4 Jobs and Industry In their Social Studies notebook have your student write about and define the following: job, industry, institution, types of industries, economic institution, and major industries in the United States. Next, have your student research the major industries their state is known for and record their findings in their Social Studies notebook.
5 Producers, Consumers, and Entrepreneurs In their Social Studies notebook have your student write about and define the following: producer, consumer, and entrepreneur. Have your student research some famous entrepreneurs in their state and write about their findings in their Social Studies notebook.

Module Guiding Questions:

When a student starts a lesson ask them questions to check for prior knowledge and understanding and to review concepts being taught. At the end of the lesson ask the questions again to see if their answer changes.
