Module 32 Phonics Long e-Language Arts KB - Course Guide


Module Overview:

In this module, students will learn about how ‘ee’ says e. They will practice their sight words (ran, this, too) and double ee words with interactive activities. They will also read the weekly story and record an oral retell. They will learn about story maps and plan what will happen in the beginning, middle, and end of their story. They will practice their spelling words (see, bee, eel, seed, feed, heel, peel, week) and independent reading book.

1 32.1- Double ee
  • As your student reads “The Sheep Ran” ask them the following questions: What do the sheep need? Why did the sheep run? Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story and write about it using your sight words.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
2 32.2- Double ee
  • Students will continue writing their story maps from last week. (Ideas for topics were brainstormed in a previous module.)
  • Use the sight word flashcards from this week daily with your student. Mix them up, show them the words and ask them to read the sight word. Next do not show them the word, but say the word and ask them to spell the word.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
3 32.3- Double ee
  • As your student practices writing sight words have them spell the words as they write each letter in the word and then read the word when they are done writing it.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
  • Have your student practice spelling their spelling words, say a word and have them spell it.
4 32.4- Double ee During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
5 32.5- Double ee
  • Your student will be taking a reading quiz today. It is a set of multiple choice questions about the story.
  • Don’t forget to have your student complete their independent reading log and assignment and submit it at the Independent Reading Assignment lesson dropbox. You may have to help them fill it out. Remember to submit their work for the week in the Module 32 Weekly Written Work Phonics long e lesson dropbox.
