Module Overview:

In this module, students will identify the reasons for World War 2. Students will identify the countries involved in World War II and who was on which side. Students will identify the dates of World War II and when the U.S. entered the war. Students will identify where World War II was fought. Students will identify three effects of World War II on America and the world.

1 World War II: What and Why? In their Social Studies notebook have your student define and/or describe the following: war, country, world war, explain the reasons for World War II and when it started, and explain the actions of Germany, Japan and Italy, that contributed to the start of the war.
2 World War II: Who? In their Social Studies notebook have your student define and/or describe the following: alliance, power, leader, explain the allied and axis powers, and describe the key leaders in World War II.
3 World War II: When? In their Social Studies notebook, have your student record a timeline for key events during World War II.
4 World War II: Where? In their Social Studies notebook have your student describe where World War II was fought.
5 World War II: How? In their Social Studies notebook have your student define and/or describe the following: unity, sacrifice, surrender, describe the events that cause Japan to surrender, describe the events that caused Germany to surrender, and describe how the United States was affected by the war.

Module Guiding Questions:

When a student starts a lesson ask them questions to check for prior knowledge and understanding and to review concepts being taught. At the end of the lesson ask the questions again to see if their answer changes.
