Module Overview:

In this module, students will learn to investigate interdependent relationships in nature through food chains and draw and label a simple food chain. They will distinguish among the foods that animals eat and make observations about the characteristics of carnivores. Students will identify unique characteristics of birds of prey and draw and label a food chain that includes birds of prey.

1 Animal Food Chains After completing this lesson, ask your student to explain the parts of a food chain and why each part is important.
2 Carnivores After completing this lesson, ask your student to think of an animal that is a carnivore, have them look up information on that animal, and discuss its characteristics, and what adaptations they have to help them survive.
3 Birds of Prey After completing this lesson, ask your student to look up more information on birds of prey, choose one to learn more about, identify its characteristics, and adaptations, and describe a food chain that the bird would fit into.
