Module 24-Social Studies 4B - Course Guide


Module Overview:

In this module, students will define latitude and longitude and apply them to time zones. Students will locate the following on a map: North Pole, South Pole, equator, prime meridian, Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, northern hemisphere, and southern hemisphere. They will follow directions on a map using the compass rose, legend, and symbols. They will identify the proper geographic tool (map, graph, aerial photo, or survey) for a given situation. Students will explain the difference between absolute and relative location.

Module Guiding Questions:

When a student starts a lesson ask them questions to check for prior knowledge and understanding and to review concepts being taught. At the end of the lesson ask the questions again to see if their answer changes.
