Module 33: Multiplication Intro-Math 2B - Course Guide

Module Overview:

Students will understand that the “x” symbol means multiplication, understand that multiplication means you have a certain number of groups the same size, and use visuals to understand repeated addition. Students will understand that one times a number (or group) is that number. Students will define an array and use an array to multiply and relate it to repeated addition. They will understand that multiplication can be thought of as the repeated addition of equal groups and identify and match pictures to the correct multiplication or repeated addition equation.

Multiply by One
  1. What is the rule for multiplying by one?
Multiply with Arrays
  1. What is an array?
Multiply by Adding
  1. How can we use repeated addition to multiply?
Multiplication Matching
  1. How can pictures help you multiply?

Module Video Questions:

When a student watches a video take time to ask them questions about what they watched. Suggested questions for the videos in this module are listed here. Suggestion: Have the student watch the entire video first all the way through. Then have them watch the video a second time, as they watch it pause the video and ask the questions.
