Learning Coach Notes:

Lesson # Lesson Title Notes
1 31.1 Long A In this module, students will learn that vowels can make two sounds. This concept will be reinforced throughout the lesson with Words of the Week, a vocabulary word, and handwriting practice. While the long a sound can be made by a few letter combinations, avoid confusing your learner by focusing solely on the long a silent e spelling pattern this week.
2 31.2 Long A Students will work with multisyllabic words today. As your learner counts the syllables, use the colored squares to show the word parts if a visual helps your child understand the word parts. As your learner uses affixes (prefixes and suffixes) to comprehend what they listen to, reinforce this throughout the week with books you read. Use words with prefixes and suffixes to discuss the meaning of the text with your learner.
3 31.3 Long A Students will begin to learn how to segment multisyllabic words today. The goal is to build the skills necessary to decode multisyllabic words. Learning and following the process outlined will give your learner the skills needed. Be sure your learner follows the steps with each word presented. You can ask prompting questions to help your child move from one step to the next.
4 31.4 Long A Your learner will complete their fiction story today by drawing a picture of the story ending. Encourage your learner to add plenty of details to the picture to show the ending of the story. Keep the worksheet to continue working on tomorrow.
5 31.5 Long A Your learner will have a short review video before demonstrating their understanding of the concepts and skills learned this week. Guide your learner through this lesson but refrain from providing answers. Your child’s teacher will use this lesson to understand how well your child is learning.
