Module Overview:

In this module, students will read a story about squirrels and observe the squirrels in your neighborhood. They will learn about the homes of animals.

1 Squirrel Behavior In this lesson, your student will be asked to spend some time observing squirrels. Have them write about the different kinds of squirrels they see. Put out some birdseed or nuts for the squirrels in a location outside to watch them feed.
2 Animal Habitats and Weather Have your student think about animals who live in captivity, such as pet reptiles, fish, gerbils, birds, etc. How can pet owners construct a habitat to be as close to their natural habitat as possible? Have your student pick one of the animals listed and design a habitat for that pet.

When a student starts a lesson ask them questions to check for prior knowledge and understanding and to review concepts being taught. At the end of the lesson ask the questions again to see if their answer changes.
