Module Overview:

In this module, students will continue to learn about the letter Xx. They will practice their sight words (now, on, our)and x words with interactive activities. They will also read the weekly story and record an oral retell. They will learn about paragraphs and dissect their paragraph. They will practice their spelling words (ox, box, fox, six, fix, mix, tax, wax), and independent reading.

1 26.1 Letter Xx
  • As your student reads “What's in the Box?” ask them the following questions: What was in the red box? What was in the blue box? What was in the black box? Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story and write about it using your sight words.
  • While your student is practicing writing the letter Xx have them say out loud how they are writing the letter.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
2 26.2 Letter Xx
  • Use the sight word flashcards from this lesson daily with your student. Mix them up, show them the words and ask them to read the sight word. Next do not show them the word, but say the word and ask them to spell the word.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
3 26.3 Letter Xx
  • As your student practices writing sight words have them spell the words as they write each letter in the word and then read the word when they are done writing it.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
  • Have your student practice spelling their spelling words, say a word and have them spell it.
4 26.4 Letter Xx During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
5 26.5 Letter Xx Don’t forget to have your student complete their independent reading log and assignment and submit it at the Independent Reading Assignment lesson dropbox. You may have to help them fill it out. Remember to submit their work for the week in the Module 26 Weekly Written Work Letter Xx lesson dropbox.
