Module 15: The Letter Ee- Language Arts K - Course Guide

Module Overview:

In this module, students will explore the letter Ee, focusing on identifying its short vowel sound and practicing proper letter formation. Through engaging activities, learners will build their ability to decode words using letter-sound relationships and read the Decodable Book with increasing fluency. Students will expand their vocabulary and apply it to deepen comprehension as they compare and contrast characters’ experiences and make text-to-text connections. They will strengthen their phonemic awareness by identifying the middle sounds in words and differentiating between one- and two-syllable words. Writing and comprehension skills are supported as students learn to retell a story using the five-finger strategy and use illustrations to sequence events accurately. Throughout the module, learners will demonstrate an understanding of story structure, phonics, and fluency while developing their confidence as readers and writers.

Lesson # Lesson Title Notes
1 15.1 Letter Ee The short e vowel sound is similar to the short a sound. Spend extra time with your learner practicing this sound. Be sure to follow the directions and use a mirror and the Vowel Valley to help your learner correctly produce this sound.
2 15.2 Letter Ee Students will learn about text-to-text connections today. Reinforce this topic by comparing characters, settings, plots, and messages in your learner’s favorite books or movies. Discuss with your learner the connections they can make with the two module stories to help solidify this skill this week.
3 15.3 Letter Ee Before listening to the Module Story, tell your learner to listen for the similarities and differences between the stories. On the vocabulary page, students will learn how to make text-to-text connections by comparing the two stories. Offer your learner support when completing the Venn diagram interactive at the bottom of the vocabulary page.
4 15.4 Letter Ee Many interactive activities in this lesson allow students to practice what they are learning. Provide support as your learner completes the interactives and watch for understanding. If your learner becomes frustrated or answers most questions incorrectly, review the skills with them and have your child try the interactive again.
5 15.5 Letter Ee Students will have a short review video before demonstrating their understanding of the concepts and skills learned this week. Guide your learner through the self-check interactive activities but refrain from providing answers. Your learner’s teacher will use these assessments to understand how well your child is learning.
